Where Asphaltech mastic asphalt is required as a roofing surface only with little or no traffic, it is laid in two coats to a nominal thickness of 20mm. The first coat is laid to a thickness of 10mm and the second coat 10mm. It is applied in a liquid form and spread out to form and homogeneous surface which whilst liquid can be formed to any shape or surface as required. It can then be protected by a solar reflective UV resistant paint.

The Asphaltech Polymer Modified Mastic Asphalt (asphalt composed of suitable graded mineral matter and asphaltic cement in such proportions as to form a cohesive, impermeable mass) is recognised for its durability and effectiveness as a waterproofing system.

The Asphaltech Mastic Asphalt System gained CodeMark certification in March 2018, making it NZ’s first zero-degree CodeMark certified system for inverted, flat roof and podium deck roofs. The CodeMark certification gives designers assurance that the system can be used where the minimum gradient of the substrate structure can be if required completely flat (less than 1:80), including nominally zero pitch. It is suitable for potable water use and can be if desired, finished in a range of architectural colours.
