  • Creative design – Single ply roofing membranes can be cut to fit any unusual layout or roof shape. This means that any buildings with a creative design could be perfectly suited for a single ply roofing membrane.
  • Thermal efficiency – Because a single ply roofing membrane is applied over the top of the insulation layer, a single ply roof can keep your building warm, with increased thermal efficiency.
  • UV resistant – Many roof types suffer from the harmful effects of UV rays. But singly ply roof membranes are designed to be UV resistant. This means that single ply roofs are well prepared for all weather types from snow and rain, to hot and dry.
  • Longevity – Single ply membranes have been installed for over 50 years so have a proven track record in the industry.
  • Flame free Application – Single ply is installed without the use of naked flames unlike most sheet membranes in the marketplace. So having a flame free application is important in today’s Safety conscious construction sector and insurance companies are more encouraged by this application.

Single ply roofing is a synthetic polymer based roofing material used in flat roof design. As the name suggests it is a waterproofing layer applied to the roof structure in a single sheet. The most common types of single ply membranes used in New Zealand are PVC and TPO membranes. These membranes can be applied mechanically or by means of glue. The sheet end laps are sealed by using an automated hot air welding machine that ensures complete quality of weld on each joint. Single ply roofs are lightweight, flexible, cost effective, easy to install and safe because they are installed flame free. which makes them increasingly popular for both new build and refurbishment projects.

There are a number of finishes available in the market from creating a ballast roof where the single ply membrane is held on by ballast material which could be gravel , paving , or even a full green roof. The roof membrane can also have seams welded to the finished roof to create a standing seam profiles to mirror expensive Zinc or copper roofs.
