Wellbeing
Asphaltech have recently become a founding sponsor of MATES IN CONSTRUCTION. This initiative was brought to New Zealand from Australia and is purpose is to raise suicide awareness in the industry and train staff on how to cope with staff who are feeling vulnerable and under pressure in todays fast moving sector. The pressure is astronomical and can lead to very vulnerable staff. MATES help and train our company on how to support our team members when feeling vulnerable.
Engineering control
Improving plant and equipment is important to Productivity and health and safety in general. New vehicles and plant have vastly improved safety features and controls. Therefore at Asphaltech we have drastically improved our fleet of vehicles and renewed our mastic asphalt asphalt boilers. Our new mastic asphalt mixers are thermostatically controlled thus improving the risk of fire or overheated machinery and material. The agitator arms stop when the lids are open thus reducing the risk of entrapment. These mixers were purchased in 2019 and they were bought from merlin asphalt mixers.
