Neuchâtel Mastic Asphalt
Mastic Asphalt (or Neuchatel as it is referred to in New Zealand) has been successfully used to provide unbeatable protection from water penetration for centuries. In recent years the material has been reformulated to include advanced polymers for increased durability, combining its traditional strengths with modern technology.
Not simply a roofing material, it is used in various applications, including walkways and roads. It is highly resistant to all types of weather situation and attacks from thermal shock (rapid temperature changes), which are a frequent source of break down in many other types of membrane. Its durability and seamless application means that it is one of the few membranes able to handle consistent heavy foot and vehicular traffic, including from Heavy Goods Vehicles, and still maintain its waterproof integrity. It is also easy to repair should alterations or damage occur.
Mastic Asphalt is produced by IKO to British standards and is manufactured to ISO 9000 Quality management system. Mastic Asphalt has a BBA certificate. IKO is a member of the Mastic Asphalt council of Britain and Europe.

A dense mass, composed of suitably graded mineral matter – chippings, and/or sand, and or limestone fine aggregate and/or crushed natural limestone powder and bitumen (natural or issued from crude oil distillation). Mastic asphalt is non-toxic (water insoluble), reuseable ecological building material.
The Mastic Asphalt product comprises of suitably graded limestone aggregates bound together with asphalt cement (primarily refined bitumens), to produce a dense, void-less material. It cannot be compacted and is spread when hot by means of a hand float, rather than rolled.
Mastic Asphalt is an ideal material for a whole range of construction applications in both new-build and refurbishment where a smooth, seamless, durable surface is required. It offers total waterproofing integrity for roofing and tanking and acts as a tough working surface in flooring and paving.

Flat Roof System
Neuchatel Mastic Asphalt is the ultimate flat roofing system and has been used extensively over hundreds of years. It has stood the test of time, protecting many of New Zealand’s most prestigious buildings.
Neuchatel Mastic Asphalt is recognized for its durability and effectiveness as a waterproofing system. It is suitable for potable water use and can be finished in a range of colours.
Car Park Trafficable System
The complete car parking system will not only waterproof your structure but can also be designed and laid with a Mastic Asphalt wearing layer or concrete wear slabs capable of withstanding high volumes traffic.
Car parking systems will require specific design depending on the nature and use of the car park in question. Systems vary from light traffic to extensive use.
Green Roof System
A superior green roof system for the environmentally conscious it is an ideal waterproofing material for extensive green roofs, intensive roof gardens and biodiversity roofs. It is completely resistant to root penetration and water collected off the Mastic surfaces is potable. In its malleable state, when hot, it allows a full range of surface finishes from the mastic asphalt wearing layer, which can be stamped with patterns, coloured or just smooth flat providing a stable base for overlaying various surface finishes from the pavers on pedestals systems to simple decorative pebbled surfaces.
Inverted Insulated Roof System
The inverted roof is a flat roof construction and its main feature is that, unlike in conventional flat roof designs, the thermal insulation is laid above the Polymer Modified Mastic Asphalt.
Any type of deck or ballast can be selected as a finishing surface such as gravelled or pebbled roofs, paved terrace roofs, green roofs.
Warm Roof Thermal Insulated System
The Warm Roof System includes a layer of high quality insulation foam between the roof structure and the Polymer Modified Mastic Asphalt layer. This will greatly increase the thermal properties of the roof structure. Very useful with today’s strict building code requirements.
Pacofoam is a high performance, fibre free, rigid thermoset insulation core faced on both sides with a low emissivity composite foil facing which is used for insulating flat roofs and is fully compatible with Neuchatel Mastic Asphalt systems.
