Quality is a strived for trained for and reached for. It is driven by the people who aspire to be the best and for their staff and team members to aspire to the same beliefs. From a personal level I am disappointed if any person does not deliver the highest quality for my company. Striving to deliver these values or be the best takes effort, determination, and hard work. Only then when these things are used will quality prevail.
Quality Documentation
At our company implementation of a quality management plan was critical in providing a way forward. During this process we have looked extensively at throughout the supply chain from the selection of product supplier, manufacture, delivery of product and installation. Having a controlled document allows us to have traceability from source.
A Quality Assurance plan has been implemented into procedures throughout our organisation. To ensure all aspects of our business are running correctly and are getting reviewed periodically. Ensuring that we are accountable for our decisions and actions of all our team.
Quality Product
Partnering with the best supply chain partnerships in the industry ensure our company has access to the best waterproofing products and systems that are available in New Zealand market Equus, Sika, Viking, Mapei, Ardex, Neuchatel and DGL offer our company a vast range of products and systems which we have trained and installers over many large and small projects over many years of business. These products and systems have been tested and analyse to New Zealand standards by codemark and Branz.

Quality Workmanship
As a company owner who has spent a sufficient time as an installer for a large part of my life I expect and drive the highest standards from my team. These standards are only gained through training and mentorship. As a company we send our team on all partnership training events which are professionally run by our Suppliers. This is coupled with our own training and leadership initiatives to ensure that our clients have a successful outcome to each project. The management team at our company are in my opinion the best you can find in New Zealand.

Design
The design process is far reaching it starts with an idea from the architect client and then can be determined from a myriad of variables in the roofing industry ranging from choices on fire, weight of structure, thermal performance, cost , reliability and warranty, to name but a few. As a company with decades of experience we consider all these choices and consult on the best systems and products for the area ensuring the designer has the best available information to hand on the systems and product we can deliver from our product partners. Werther the job is a small gutter or a large warm roof system. This will enhance the installation and make the quality better in the end.
On-Site Quality Assurance Documentation
Asphaltech utilises our inhouse Quality assurance App for all products and systems we apply. The Qa that is carried out onsite is directly sent to any designated person that requests our QA from client to builder or client project manager. This way creates a transparency and allows our project to run more smothely. The app we run is called Site App Pro and our staff carry out pre and post inspections on this Application. All QA have photographic documentation of relevant flood test .damage to existing deck, details which are not in the architectural details and photographs of thickness of completed products.

Testing at manufacture level
All products and systems that our company select and put forward for projects are Tested under ISO 9001 during the manufacturing process by the manufacturers of the membrane . They are then tested by an independent body like the British Board of Agreement. Or BBA for short. To be selected or allowed for use and application in New Zealand they have to be tested or apraized again by a local accreditation body such as Branz and code mark. So in essence the success of the project relys mainly on good design and proper installation and this is where we have it covered by having a company of highly trained water proofers.
Testing at onsite level
On completing of the waterproofing installation, it is a council requirement to show that the membrane installation has been carried out correctly and can pass a flood test or a electronic leak detection test. Having successfully passed this test will go some way to ensuring that the installation of the waterproofing membrane has been carried out correctly and that the buildings and structures will be watertight.
There are several methods but the 2 most common are. Flood testing and electronic leak detection.

Flood test
This is a traditional method where the testing area is completely flooded with water over a 24-hour period to ensure the building below is watertight. This is a pretty accurate test but the downside to this test is the timeframe to flood the roof, the un-necessary use of water and the imposing weight on the structure during the flood test.

Electronic Leak Detection
Asphaltech highly recommend that their system is visually checked during installation and that an electronic leak detection is tested on all areas on completion of installation. The companies carrying out the testing should be independent to all parties involved.
