WATERPROOFING SOLUTION

The Risland apartments in Albany were constructed by CMP on behalf of the developer Risland. The project consisted of 2 towers of various heights with a podium that separates the buildings. In modern construction a design has to incorporate the H@ requirement in relation to insulation for heating and cooling. A viking warm roof was selected and installed over 2 roofs totalling around 3000m2. M. This featured a vapour control layer, 100mm of insulation glue fixed with a final covering of Enviroclad TPO which is a Singleply membrane from Carlisle in the united States. This membrane has been used successfully in New Zealand for 20 years. The podium featured the ever-reliable Rolls Royce of waterproofing Neuchatel mastic asphalt. The area was around 1500m2 and was a complicated podium with various planters and details to consider. The membrane for the balcony’s was Torch on due to the ease of installation and durability under fatigue from the tiles of pedestal’s.

The project was built during Covid and was completed several months ahead of schedule.
