Neuchatel Mastic Asphalt Podium Terrace System & Neuchatel Mastic Asphalt Flat Roof System
This iconic church at the top of Parnel rise had large areas of flat roofs which were old and needed attention due to leaks into the church. Asphaltech were engaged by TPW to analyze the existing roofs and come up with a solution that would improve the integrity of the flat roofing areas. Due to this being an existing building in use, the technical expertise that was needed to come up with a long-lasting solution was paramount. As the existing roofs and cladding could not be removed then out of the box solutions would have to be sought. Asphaltech engaged Viking to assist in the specification and assist in the solution focused outcome.
Our solution was to use a Viking Enviroclad TPO overlay on top of the existing old torch-on membrane. While minimizing the need for extensive structural alterations. The Asphaltech team stripped the existing promenade tiles, cleaned the roof down with a solvent free cleaner and a low-pressure wash. The existing torch on substrate was primed and a low foaming glue was applied to the fleece back membrane to achieve a long-lasting result with minimal falls preserving the cathedrals architectural integrity. The perimeter was terminated using a precoated TPO metal flashings which we welded to. As you can see from the photographs there are some tricky details which our team have carried out to precision leaving a watertight aesthetically pleasing roof.
